Travel with Expectations
This has been a crazy week. I spent 3 glorious days in Destin, Florida where I was blessed to speak and meet some incredible new friends! Then I traveled to Beaumont, TX with my friend Lynn and edutained students and teachers in 8 schools/libraries for 3 more days. WOW... I'm exhausted!
When I travel, I always anticipate who God will put me in front of, so plane trips are always a hoot. I figure if I'm seated on the end, I can reach across the aisle or inward towards the window... so basically, no one is safe. I have asked to be used as an encourager and God is faithful to supply the opportunities. Even this past week I engaged with the air-staff a few times, and was able to offer up words of encouragement and praise. It makes me smile when I see others smiling.
I sat next to a young man on his way to see his 10 year old son whom he had not seen in 6 years. Bobby (not his real name), was scared of flying so this made the trip even more challenging. He sat with his headphones on, window shade pulled down and arms folded. I asked about his ipod, the conversation began, and by the end of the trip I was asking if I could lift him and his family in prayer. He welcomed it.
I look forward to a few days off from running the airways, but always anticipate what God will do next time out.
